Hotel La Alhóndiga is one of the oldest constructions of the city; it dates back to the colonial era, and was built for the sale of corn. This hotel in Puebla was the scene for the birthday dance in honor to Empress Carlota of Mexico and later for the festivities held for the visit of the then President of Mexico Porfirio Díaz.
